The Alliance Research Group NanoMicrobiology (NAMI) unites scientists from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Ghent University (UGent) to investigate microbial and cellular systems at the nanoscale.
Our mission is to understand how physical forces, molecular interactions, and microenvironments govern life processes — from antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation to cell mechanobiology in microgravity.
We combine atomic-force microscopy (AFM), microfluidics, and optical nanomotion detection (ONMD) to study single cells and biomaterials in real time.
